Selected Artist from 1st 2024 SHOWER open call
Frederikke Jul Vedelsby (b.1990, Copenhagen, Denmark) works across drawing, text, and video media. The artist states that the irregularities in her works, as well as the limitations that even she cannot fully comprehend, allow for the expansion of sensory perception and experience. For her, drawing is a method of conveying knowledge that transcends intellect, the body, and time. The people she films on 16mm film are portrayed as individuals who momentarily engage in personal and spontaneous rituals that break away from the awareness dominated by capital, one-way communication, and efficiency in society.
The artist is currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Malmö Academy in Sweden. Her major exhibitions include the solo exhibition "Precious Us" at Matteo Cantarella (Copenhagen, 2023), "See Girls" at ERGO Collective (Athens, 2022), and the group exhibition "Benefit art sale, raising money for women in Iran" at Overgaden (Copenhagen, 2022), "UDK22" young Danish contemporary art at KunstbygningeniVr., Vr. (Denmark, 2022). Additionally, she has participated in residency programs at The Nordic Art Association (Stockholm, 2024) and the Victoria Square Project (Athens, 2023).

프레데리케 율 베델스비(1990년생, 덴마크 코펜하겐)는 드로잉, 텍스트, 영상 매체를 넘나들며 작업합니다. 작가는 자신의 작업들이 가진 불규칙성, 그리고 스스로도 완전히 이해할 수 없는 한계로 하여금 감각과 경험이 확장될 수 있다고 말합니다.
작가에게 드로잉은 지성이나 신체, 시간을 초과하는 지식의 전달 방법이며, 그가 16mm 필름으로 촬영하는 사람들은 자본이나 일방향성, 효율성이 지배하는 사회에 대한 인식에서 벗어나는 개인적이고 즉흥적인 의식을 잠시 행하는 인물로서 등장합니다.
